The site’s industrial history presented unique challenges due to the presence of hazardous materials. A comprehensive decontamination process was undertaken, with real time monitoring systems in place to detect any potential hazards swiftly. This proactive approach to safety ensured that, upon completion, the site was removed from environmental hazard registers, showcasing the project’s commitment to environmental responsibility and community wellbeing. The 2022 Queensland floods posed significant challenges, but Hutchies’ project team’s resilience and adaptability shone through. Innovative construction methods were employed to mitigate the weather and flood impacts, including changes in construction methods and program sequencing. This adaptability was crucial in maintaining the project’s momentum, despite the adverse conditions.

One of the key innovations was the bored pier cost and panel system, which revolutionised the construction process by minimising the time spent in excavation and enhancing worker safety. Hutchies’ precast lift core construction method allowed for rapid assembly of the lift core, significantly reducing the time required for traditional insitu wall construction. This efficiency was further complemented by the use of precision joinery from shop drawings, which eliminated the need for on site measuring and ensured a perfect fit every time.

The project also embraced sustainability with the introduction of an efficient EV charging system, equipped with a sophisticated Load Management System. This forward thinking approach catered to the growing demand for electric vehicle infrastructure and demonstrated the project’s commitment to future proofing its residences.

The finishes throughout Alouette Residences are of the highest quality, with the use of natural stone adding both aesthetic value and durability. The involvement of Hutchies’ Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) team in the services design, quality assurance, and commissioning stages played a pivotal role in ensuring that the project not only met but exceeded environmental and sustainability standards.
